Batch Remove Image Metadata

Create metadata-clean copies of up to 20 images by decoding the visible pixels in your browser and re-encoding them as JPEG, PNG, or WebP. The queue reports dimensions, output format, and size, then packages only verified results into one ZIP.

Canvas re-encoding commonly removes EXIF, GPS, camera comments, and many ancillary chunks, but this page does not claim forensic sanitization of every possible format or browser implementation. It accepts browser-decodable still images and makes flattened delivery copies, not archival replacements.

    No server upload

    Signature-verified outputs

    Per-file error isolation

Canvas re-encoding commonly removes EXIF, GPS, camera comments, and many ancillary chunks, but this page does not claim forensic sanitization of every possible format or browser implementation. It accepts browser-decodable still images and makes flattened delivery copies, not archival replacements. Every item is handled independently, so one unsupported or damaged file does not erase successful work from the rest of the queue.

    Know what browser re-encoding removes

A browser canvas receives decoded pixels rather than the source container structure. When those pixels are encoded into a new JPEG, PNG, or WebP file, EXIF blocks, GPS coordinates, comments, thumbnails, editing history, and most original ancillary chunks are normally absent. This is practical for publishing copies, especially when location or device details should not travel with an image.

Know what this workflow does not prove

Metadata handling varies by browser and output codec, and a visual image can still reveal sensitive information in its pixels. Text, reflections, faces, badges, screens, landmarks, and backgrounds are not metadata. The page also does not inspect proprietary containers, layered documents, or hidden content outside formats the browser can decode. High-risk privacy work needs a dedicated inspection process and independent verification.

    Choose an output format intentionally

JPEG is efficient for opaque photographs but flattens transparency and uses lossy compression. PNG can preserve alpha and exact decoded pixels but may be much larger for photographs. WebP provides a modern balance where browser support is available. The automatic option retains JPEG, PNG, or WebP according to the source when possible, while unsupported output encoding falls back visibly rather than using a false extension.

Keep masters and verify delivery copies

Re-encoding removes more than private metadata: it can omit color profiles, captions, copyright notices, accessibility information, and camera orientation details. Keep original masters in controlled storage and use the clean ZIP for a specific publishing purpose. Open several outputs, compare color and sharpness, run an independent metadata viewer where privacy matters, and confirm that file-size changes fit the destination.

    What metadata is usually removed?

Canvas re-encoding commonly omits EXIF, GPS, camera comments, embedded thumbnails, and many source-specific chunks.

Is this a forensic metadata sanitizer?

No. Browser behavior and formats vary, so sensitive workflows should verify results with an independent specialist tool.

    Does the image quality change?

JPEG and WebP may be recompressed; PNG preserves decoded pixels but can change container details and file size.

    Will transparency remain?

PNG and supported WebP output can preserve alpha. JPEG requires a solid background.

Can visible private information be removed?

No. The tool does not redact faces, text, screens, reflections, or other information already present in the pixels.

    Are images uploaded?

No. Decoding, re-encoding, validation, ZIP creation, and download stay in the browser.

    Should I delete my originals?

No. Keep protected masters because useful metadata and quality can be lost in publishing copies.
