Use pixel dimensions for digital requirements
Websites, social platforms, stores, and content systems usually specify width and height in pixels. Those values define how much raster information is available before CSS scaling or platform processing. A 1200 by 630 image and a 600 by 315 image share an aspect ratio but do not provide the same detail. This report keeps width and height explicit instead of reducing everything to one label.
Read megapixels as workload and detail
Megapixels equal width multiplied by height divided by one million. The number is useful for estimating memory, processing cost, and broad capture resolution, but it does not measure sharpness, compression artifacts, focus, or subject quality. Very large images can exceed upload limits or browser memory even when their compressed file size looks small, so both dimensions and bytes matter.
Understand displayed orientation
Landscape means width exceeds height, portrait means height exceeds width, and square means they are equal. Camera files can include orientation metadata that affects displayed dimensions. The browser decoder generally returns the visual orientation used on screen, which is helpful for publishing workflows. A specialist metadata tool may show stored pixel axes and orientation tags separately.
Compare the report with destination rules
A dimensions report is most useful beside an explicit acceptance matrix: minimum width, maximum megapixels, preferred ratio, and file-size ceiling. Sort or filter the downloaded CSV in a spreadsheet, then route undersized files to replacement and oversized files to a deliberate resize or compression workflow. Do not upscale automatically without reviewing whether the destination truly requires more source detail.

What dimensions does the tool report?

No. DPI metadata can change suggested print size while width and height in pixels remain the same.
