Image Denoise Tool

Suppress speckles and small color variations with an adjustable median filter while comparing the original and processed image side by side.

Upload a noisy image to compare the original with an edge-aware median-filtered result.

Edge-aware median filtering

Replace each pixel with the neighborhood median to remove impulses while retaining stronger boundaries.

Three filter strengths

Use 3×3, 5×5, or 7×7 neighborhoods for light, medium, or strong smoothing.

Adjustable result blend

Mix the filtered pixels with the original to recover texture after stronger denoising.

Hvordan det fungerer

  1. 1

    Upload a noisy image

Choose a low-light photo, scan, screenshot, or image with visible speckles.

  2. 2

    Set strength and blend

Increase the filter window carefully, then reduce the blend if fine detail becomes too smooth.

  3. 3

    Compare and download

Review both previews and save the processed result as PNG.

When median denoising works best

Median filters are especially effective on salt-and-pepper noise because isolated extreme pixels are replaced by a typical nearby value. They can also soften light grain, but strong settings may remove small textures. Start with the 3×3 window and increase it only when visible noise remains.

Ofte stilte spørsmål

Can this recover details lost to blur?

No. Denoising suppresses local variation; it cannot recreate detail that was not captured.

Why is the preview resized?

Large images are limited to keep the browser-based median filter responsive.
