Why aspect ratio matters
Aspect ratio controls how an image fits into a frame without stretching. Keeping the same ratio preserves composition when resizing thumbnails, social posts, website hero images, video covers, and product photos.
If the target ratio differs from the original, you need to crop, pad, or use a fit/fill layout instead of simply resizing both dimensions.

How do I calculate aspect ratio?
Divide width and height by their greatest common divisor. For example, 1920 x 1080 simplifies to 16:9.
