Choose the right image for vector tracing

Vector tracing works by grouping similar pixels and following their boundaries. Icons, signatures, diagrams, and flat illustrations usually produce compact results. Detailed photographs produce larger SVG files.

Use fewer colors and lower detail when editability matters more than photographic fidelity.

Questions fréquemment posées

Which formats are supported?

The tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF when the current browser can decode the selected file.

Does an animated image remain animated?

No. General image tracing uses the decoded still image or first visible frame to create a static SVG.

Can I edit the SVG afterward?

Yes. The download contains standard SVG path markup that can be opened in compatible vector editors.

Does tracing happen online?

The tool page is online, but your selected image stays on this device and tracing runs in the browser.
